Ovechkin Out Against Nashville Tomorrow

According to Capitals Insider Tarik El-Bashir, Caps LW Alex Ovechkin has returned to Russia to be with his ill grandfather. How long Ovechkin will be out is unknown at this time.

The team's web page has pretty much the same story.

At today's practice, Coach Bruce Boudreau had Brooks Laich skating in Ovie's spot with Nicklas Backstrom and Viktor Kozlov. The other lines were Fehr-Fedorov-Semin, Fleischmann-Nylander-Clark and Brashear-Gordon-Bradley, with David Steckel possibly moving into Federov's spot if Feds is forced to the blue line for tomorrow's match-up.

Ovechkin has been mired in a slump the first few weeks of the season, and this could very well be a contributing factor, although I'm sure the Russian sniper would not admit to such. Hopefully when Ovechkin does make his return, he'll be able to resume his normal shifts and return to his Hart Trophy winning form from last season.

Caps News Network wishes to extend best thoughts to Ovechkin and his family.
